Divergence Raises $11.8 Million in Series C Financing

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) February 17, 2009

Biotechnology firm Divergence, Inc., a world leader in developing products for the control of parasites in agriculture and medicine, today announced that it has raised $ 11.8 million in a Series C financing round that will further its efforts to create solutions for one of the major causes of crop yield loss for farmers.

MidPoint Food and Ag Fund LP acted as lead investor in the round. Other institutional investors included Prolog Ventures LP and certain partners of William Blair & Co. The round included 41 returning investors including all members of Divergence's Board of Directors. The financing more than doubles the amount of equity capital raised by the company since its inception.

Proceeds from the financing will be used to advance Divergence's nematicide program. The company is developing molecules for the control of plant parasitic nematodes. Nematode control is the largest unsolved pest problem in agriculture limiting the yield of crops worldwide and causing billions of dollars in crop damage annually. Divergence has discovered the first novel mode of action for this market in more than 20 years. The new molecules feature human and environment safety profiles that are vastly superior to traditional nematicides. The funding will also support the Company's continued development of crops that are resistant to nematodes, as well as its innovative, broad-based research platforms Harvest, STEM and RNA interference.

"This financing, especially given the sophistication of the participating investors, provides further validation of Divergence's revolutionary technology and the rapid advancements of our projects in parasite control," said Derek K. Rapp, Chief Executive Officer of Divergence. "Through our internal programs and corporate alliances in crop protection and animal health, Divergence is committed to the development of parasite control products for higher yielding agriculture and healthier people and animals. Upon the completion of this financing, Ronald L. Meeusen, Ph.D., Partner of Midpoint Food & Ag Fund, LP, will join the Divergence Board of Directors. Dr. Meeusen brings to Divergence more than 25 years of corporate experience in agricultural biotechnology. "There is tremendous value in the cutting-edge science of Divergence," said Dr. Meeusen. "As the first company in our investment portfolio, Divergence exemplifies our goal to invest in companies that can enable environmentally sustainable agriculture and offer promise for human and animal wellness."

With the addition of Dr. Meeusen, the Board of Directors of Divergence stands at seven people - Stanford J. Goldblatt, Partner and Head of the Private Equity Practice at Winston & Strawn; James P. McCarter, M.D., Ph.D., President and Chief Scientific Officer of Divergence; John W. McCarter, Jr., President and CEO of the Field Museum in Chicago; Ronald L. Meeusen, Ph.D., Partner of MidPoint Food and Ag Fund, LP; Ilya B. Nykin, Managing Director of Prolog Ventures; Derek K. Rapp, Chief Executive Officer of Divergence; and Mark W. Wong, President and CEO of Agrivida, Inc.

Epicure Digital Menu Boards with Nutritional Menu Labeling Featured at the NRA 2011 Restaurant Show

Beverly Hill, CA (PRWEB) May 17, 2011

Epicure Digital, a leader in digital menu boards, presents the Epicure Digital Menu System with special emphasis on nutritional labeling at the NRA 2011 National Restaurant Association show, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL, 21-24 May, 2011, Booth #1212.

Epicure Digital custom designs highly graphical digital menu board systems to solve your complex menu and point-of-sale marketing issues.

Epicure Digital specializes in developing nutritional menu labeling systems to educate and inform customers to make healthier meal choices. These nutritional labels display as nutritional data, nutritional scoring, and icons representing food groups, healthy choices, allergens, vegan, vegetarian, local and organic, whichever and whenever are applicable.

Epicure Digital menu boards help customers become aware of their choices, helping them make the right decision to achieve a balanced life by eating well. These systems provide tools to increase efficiency, revenues and profitability.

"The restaurant industry has an important journey along the road to improved health and customer satisfaction, according to Kim Blum, MS, RD, at KB Nutrition Consulting in Dallas, TX. Ms. Blum explained The FDA released proposed menu regulations on April 1, 2011, which detail how the restaurant industry must implement the new rules. Per the FDA, retail food establishments with 20 or more locations doing business under the same name and with substantially the same menu items, will be required to clearly list the calorie information on their menus. This is great news for nutrition educators and customers alike! Since 76% of adults said they are trying to eat healthier now at restaurants than they did two years ago (National Restaurant Association Top Ten Facts in 2011), this is the perfect opportunity for restaurants to highlight foods on their menu boards that meet certain calorie and nutrient guidelines. In addition, 54% of Americans polled for the American Dietetic Association Nutrition and You: Trends 2008 survey say it takes too much time to keep track of their diet. Since Americans now consume about one third of their total calories on foods prepared outside the home, it is critical for nutritional information to be available at restaurants in order to help consumers make informed decisions. This journey can be simple and rewarding. Once restaurants move forward to display nutritional information on their menu boards as well as identify healthier menu items, they will meet consumer needs and help Americans lead healthier lifestyles."

Kim Blum is a former USDA employee, owns a consulting company, KB Nutrition Consulting, dedicated to working with restaurants to provide the nutrition information of their recipes.

Epicure Digital Systems is a digital menu board company uniquely integrating its expertise in software technology and food service operations and marketing to create digital signage products and services for the food service industry. Its core product is the Epicure Digital Menu System. Its core services are menu engineering, nutritional menu labeling, and content creation.

Fair Lawn, NJ (PRWEB) May 17, 2011

Tobin Heath has been tagged for the Womens World Cup Soccer team, no surprise to her long-time trainer Steve Leo, the Director of Training at Parisi Speed Schools in Fair Lawn and Morris Plains. Leo says of Heath, a member of the last Womens Olympic team, She set her goals in high school, has worked every day since to pursue her dream, and has a lot of fun; she loves the game.

Tobin went from Ridge High School in New Jersey to the University of North Carolina on a full scholarship, returning to train at Parisis Morris Plains facility during the summer and on breaks. In college she played on National teams in addition to being instrumental in UNCs three NCAA Womens Soccer Championships - so the biggest challenge for her trainers was keeping her workouts paced correctly to maintain her strength and see she wasnt overtraining. Her dedication to her sport paid off; in 2008 Heath became the youngest member of the US Olympic team where she was a reserve mid-fielder and also the youngest member of the US National team.

When Tobin returned to Parisis and her trainer as a gold medalist, she brought Steve Leo her jersey from that Gold Medal team, a memento that he treasures. Thats Tobin, said Leo, she is a great competitor and a great person. In 2010 Tobin again made soccer headlines as the number 1 draft pick in Womens Professional Soccer, and now plays for Sky Blue FC.

New Report: Three Techniques to Gain Confidence with Women Revealed

San Mateo, CA (PRWEB) September 20, 2011

Sometimes it seems as if beautiful women come from a different planet. And, in a sense, they do. Unless a man knows some tips on how to gain confidence with women, he might as well be in another universe. In a recent report from dating expert Carlos Xuma, he explains to guys how to get this confidence.

There are some tried-and-true strategies and tips for how to get a woman to want you and transform yourself into the prize that she seeks after instead of the other way around, says Carlos Xuma.

In his new report, he helps men gain confidence with women by sharing three secret techniques that have helped hundreds of other men in their dating quest.

The first technique Xuma shares is that men absolutely must learn what makes women tick.

Sounds simple, right? Well we all know just what complicated creatures women are and how baffling they can be at times, Xuma says. Here are a few things you need to know: Women are all about connections making and nurturing connections with other people. So, make sure you create a strong connection between the two of you by having emotional experiences that are shared.

Another technique that helps men gain confidence with women is realizing that self-sufficient men who develop an attitude that he can take or leave any woman will be more attractive than other men.

Women want a guy who is confident and secure with or without her, Xuma says in his report. Having confidence with women proves that the man can be strong for her in the relationship, as well.

In his new report, Xuma shares the other two secret techniques that help men gain confidence with women. His techniques are tested and proven repeatedly, he says.

Xuma teaches men how to improve and excel in these three areas so that women will actually flock to the men instead of the other way around. For years, Xuma has been giving dating advice for men that has helped men learn how to flirt with women, improve their seduction techniques, learn how to attract women, and build self-confidence to a higher level than ever before.

Carlos Xuma has been a dating expert and attraction adviser for more than 10 years and has appeared on ABC and CBS television, as well as Playboy radio. Hes the author of The Bad Boy Formula, Secrets of the Alpha Male, the Girlfriend Training Program, and numerous other books and articles. He has also been recognized for his work sharing dating advice for men and helps them learn how to flirt with women.

Evergreen Realty Launches New Website to Challenge Real Estate Search Giants

San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) November 11, 2011

Evergreen Realty contracted web design agency blazonco to design and program a website that would outperform standard brokerage sites and hold its own against major property search portals like Realtor.com, Trulia.com, and others. The new site meets a wide array of buyer and agent needs by providing innovative property and agent search features in a format that is professional, powerful, and fun to use.

Evergreen's website allows visitors to search real estate listings across the California Regional MLS, one of the largest providers of listing information in the state, and displays search results in a clean, minimalist layout that allows for easy browsing and quick viewing of photos via a thumbnail gallery. Relevant properties are shown in a unique grid format rather than a list, a feature that places more listings above the fold for rapid viewing.

The website features drag-and-reload Google Maps integration, which allows visitors to scroll through an embedded map on the search page and watch regional property listings load in real time. This functionality allows for an incredibly intuitive, user-friendly real estate search experience that is presently matched only by major sites like Redfin.com and Zillow.com. Evergreen is the first traditional brokerage to feature drag-and-reload map technology on its company website.

The website also makes it easier than ever for visitors to locate and contact any of Evergreen's more than 900 agents. Additional functionality allows Evergreen to capture and display user-generated reviews and ratings for all agents, making the site an invaluable portal for up-to-date information about real estate professionals across California.

The website is built entirely on blazonco's proprietary content management system, which features inline page editing and a drag-and-drop module structure that together allow Evergreen executives to easily edit page elements and make changes across the site. In the future, blazonco will provide individual websites for all Evergreen agents built on this same CMS, providing unity, stability, security, and enhanced marketing options to the entire brokerage.

With the launch of its new website, Evergreen Realty and Associates is positioned to streamline the home purchase process and make real estate search more intuitive and engaging for buyers.

New England Venture Capital Association Launches CriticalMass Co-Working Space for Entrepreneurs at Cambridge Innovation Center

Boston, MA (PRWEB) March 1, 2011

CriticalMass, a Boston area co-working space powered by the New England Venture Capital Association, launched today at the Cambridge Innovation Center. CriticalMass is the only dedicated workspace designed exclusively for promising start-ups which has the full backing and support of the regional venture trade group and a syndicate of some of New Englands most well-respected venture capital firms, including Bain Capital Ventures, Charles River Ventures, Flybridge Capital Partners, Highland Capital Partners, and North Bridge Venture Partners.

While co-working spaces like this have become more commonplace in New England, said James Nahirny, current chairman, New England Venture Capital Association, and managing director, Bain Capital Ventures, none to date have had the active participation and support of the regional venture trade association, as well as from a group of sponsoring firms, that collectively have 88 investors based in Massachusetts, a network of more than 130 portfolio companies in New England, and nearly $ 10 billion in capital under management. Our shared goal is to make CriticalMass a premiere address of promising startups in the region, and the country.

CriticalMass will provide early stage entrepreneurs with a place to work, learn, collaborate and start new companies. However, CriticalMass will go beyond a typical co-working space because it will bring together a broad cross-section of the Boston area start-up community experienced technology leaders, first time entrepreneurs and investors-- to drive new company creation without an expectation that all the related startup activity needs to be or will be venture-backed.

CriticalMass is one of a series of new initiatives by the New England Venture Capital Association to more actively support and engage entrepreneurs in the region, said Jamie Goldstein of North Bridge Venture Partners and the Associations president. The Association is a platform for more than 80 member firms to advance our collective interest in helping the regions best ideas and brightest entrepreneurs thrive right here in the Northeast.

New England Venture Capital Association members, staff and the venture firm sponsors will spend time at CriticalMass, providing regular programming, as well as informal interaction with and mentoring of entrepreneurs in the space. Each premier sponsoring firm will own a huddle, a conference room space branded by them, open to all, but serving as a location for that firm to regularly meet and interact with entrepreneurs. All Association member firms are encouraged to participate in CriticalMass and should contact Nancy Saucier at saucier (at) openapurpledoor (dot) com or 617-595-8760 for more information about how to get involved.

CriticalMass adds to an increasingly vibrant set of entrepreneur support efforts in New England, said Nancy Saucier, executive director of the New England Venture Capital Association. We look forward to doing our part to nurture and think creatively about building the regions start-up success.

Storage Unit Auction List's New Site Features Make Profiting from Storage Auctions Even Easier

(PRWEB) August 17, 2011

Long before Storage Wars or Auction Hunters there were storage facilities holding storage auctions, selling bulk consumer goods at wildly discounted prices to the public.

In the recent past the United States economy took a turn for the worse, starting with the housing market. Foreclosure rates on homes skyrocketed after the collapse of Adjustable Rate Mortgages and families nationwide have dealt with downsizing and cutting costs. But if theres one thing for certain it is that in a country based on free trade and capitalism, currency is cyclical. The result is a lot of used merchandise left in storage that can either be added to a landfill or resold; reused and profited from.

Storage auctions have become a unique opportunity to re-energize and restore free exchange in the American marketplace, and a brand new medium through which budding entrepreneurs can thrive in the storage auction industry with serious profit potentials and minimal start up costs.

Along with the development of websites like Ebay and Craigslist, we saw ordinary individuals rapidly become tax exempt resale companies, selling household and commercial products in a national, even international, marketplace.

The success of those that found auctions in local papers and by avidly calling facilities themselves was impressive and led to the popularity of storage auctions in reality television. 'Storage Wars' recently became A&E's most popular television series of all time and has millions wondering why storage auctions are generating so much attention. The popularity led to the demand for access to regular, reliable storage auction listings, so that anyone could potentially gain from attending, whether trying to decorate their own homes, keep up company inventory or earn some extra, part-time income. StorageUnitAuctionList.com has allowed more people to have more success than was ever before possible because we post storage auctions not found anywhere else online exclusively for our subscribers.

Many of the people we speak with every day have remarkable stories of triumph at storage auctions.

Ms. Regitt, a subscriber in Arkansas, says she used the list to find an auction in her home town; bought a unit for $ 325; turned around and sold it to another bidder for $ 1000, all before even leaving the storage facility.

Mr. LePage, a New England subscriber, attends auctions for his company and says that one of the first auctions he ever attended yielded a unit with several hundred dollars cash stashed inside. Every day regular auction goers find profitable, if not radical, treasures inside abandoned storage units.

Alfredo Lopez, a recent Oklahoma subscriber and storage auction enthusiast, reported winning, a couple TVs along with a rare vintage bike for only $ 20 at his first auction. Mr. Lopez is like thousands of people that visit storage auctions and use Craigslist.com to resell their finds locally for additional part-time income. We tried to find auctions on our own, but we found that they are not highly publicized, said Mr. Lopez, so he found us online, subscribed and reports the service to be very informational and helpful; updated regularly and reliably.

StorageUnitAuctionList.com is a national network of storage owners and auctioneers that post storage auction listings online for subscribers. Since January of 2011, the directory has developed into USAs largest online storage auction database and has gone through several major transitions in order to ensure that our subscribers receive the best, most accurate storage auctions listings available anywhere. This month, StorageUnitAuctionList.com had a complete staff overhaul to ensure we provide the best customer service and facility relations possible. The company now double verifies every auctions to ensure accuracy; highlights all caravan-style auctions to limit confusion and our new and improved account area is more user-friendly than ever before.

Michigan School Boards Welcome Childrens Book Author Elizabeth Hoadley for

Flushing, Michigan (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

Elizabeth A. Hoadley, CEO, The Sunshine Workshop, recently accepted invitations to speak at a number of Michigan elementary schools during National Reading Month in March 2012, including the Flushing, Flint, Bloomfield and Oakland County School Districts (Detroit/Suburban Detroit).

In a statement released yesterday, Hoadley stated, I thank them for the invitations and am delighted to accept. I am both honored and humbled to participate in these events and look forward to meeting the children."

I love to see childrens eyes light up when I read different books, like I Know I Can, or Willo, said Hoadley. The room becomes quiet when Willo the tree is cut down and becomes even more silent when he is turned into a boat and later abandoned after he is no longer useful. Theres always a burst of enthusiasm and a sigh of relief when a little boy comes to save him from a tragic end.

Typically, elementary schools throughout the United States celebrate National Reading Month with a variety of activities, including appearances by well known and highly regarded authors such as Hoadley, said The Sunshine Workshops Chief Operating Officer, Shayna Dubbin Harris. These events occur annually in most US elementary schools as part of the Department of Educations Read More Books Literacy Programs. Meeting authors such as Hoadley is one way students are encouraged to read and write books.

Since the release of I Know I Can, published in May, 2011, and the enormous positive response to it, Hoadley has accepted many opportunities to speak to a variety of audiences. Invitations are still coming in, said Dubbin Harris.

I Know I Can, written by Hoadley and illustrated by 6-year old Kailee, encourages children to believe in themselves and their natural gifts, said Dubbin Harris. Using historical figures, from Joan of Arc to Terry Fox, Hoadley poetically demonstrates that people who have achieved greatness have all had one thing in common ~ a belief in their hopes and dreams despite ridicule from others. Children often identify with the 6-Year old illustrator of the book, Kailee, when they see her painting the illustrations on YouTube I Know I Can ~ 6 Years Old and 6 Books Published.

I love how children empathize with Missy and Lizzy in I Know I Can, when they hear other kids are poking fun at Missys dreams and ridiculing what she loves most, said Hoadley. Children instinctively know right from wrong and our books help them to visualize this.

The Sunshine Workshop is busy writing and illustrating two upcoming childrens books Vivache, a story of a charming family of fish who live in the canals of Venice, each with different personality traits and The Three Graces of Aquila, a story of friendship and forgiveness inspired after witnessing earthquake reconstruction efforts in Aquila, Italy. Both books are due for release in early 2012.

The Sunshine Workshop produces childrens books, artwork, animation, musical theatre productions, and related products and has offices in the United States and Canada. Their products are available in stores, on Amazon, through their website TheSunshineWorkshop.com and their Ray of Sunshine Independent Distributors.

Southern New Hampshire University Selected for Carnegie Foundation Community Engagement Classification

Manchester, NH (Vocus/PRWEB) January 13, 2011

Southern New Hampshire University was selected by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching for its 2010 Community Engagement Classification. Colleges and universities with an institutional focus on community engagement were invited to apply for the classification, first offered in 2006 as part of an extensive restructuring of The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

SNHUs civic engagement includes service-learning with Manchester school children, raising unprecedented funds for United Way agencies, providing accounting and technical assistance to fledgling not-for-profits, and continuing to assist the Haitian community in the wake of that countrys disasters. University community members have volunteered for several years on Gulf Region rebuilding projects, working in orphanages, as well as bringing technology into township schools in South Africa.

Our learning has local and global impact when we recognize that the community is a living textbook with so much to teach us. Public scholarship and service make education significant, said SNHU Provost, Dr. Patricia Lynott. We are proud that our faculty has, to date, engaged more than 700 students in this kind of active learning. The Carnegie Classification makes us aspire to even greater accomplishments.

SNHUs efforts are led by the collaboration of the universitys Student and Academic Affairs divisions. Sarah Jacobs, representing Student Affairs, is founder and director of the Center for Service and Community Involvement where members of the SNHU community embrace civic engagement, volunteerism and service. University professor Eleanor Dunfey-Freiburger, representing Academic Affairs has, for decades, been a champion for community engagement and works with faculty to shape course work to meet community needs. By creating reciprocal partnerships with the Manchester and the global community we offer students, faculty and staff the opportunity for engaged learning that fosters active citizenship.

In order to be selected, institutions had to provide descriptions and examples of institutionalized practices of community engagement that showed alignment among mission, culture, leadership, resources and practices. SNHU was one of 115 colleges and universities selected.

Carnegie stated that SNHUs application documented excellent alignment among mission, culture, leadership, resources, and practices that support dynamic and noteworthy community engagement, and it was able to respond to the classification framework with both descriptions and examples of exemplary institutionalized practices of community engagement. SNHU also documented and coordinated evidence of community engagement in a coherent and compelling response to the frameworks inquiry.

About Southern New Hampshire University

The university has approximately 2,200 traditional, full-time undergraduate day students and a total annual enrollment in all divisions of 13,000. 24 Hours, 24 Likes for LocalHood Marketing

Brampton, Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) October 06, 2011

LocalHood Marketing, announced that it was pleased to attract 24 likes of its new Facebook fan page in less than just 24 hours of the pages set up. As a reward to those who like the page, LocalHood Marketing is giving away a free downloadable guide to understanding specific social networks for local businesses.

The guide is 30 pages of content and it highlights what it claims are the "big three" social networks that all marketers should focus on when they develop a social networking strategy. It also features a simple, step by step work sheet to help an entrepreneur map out their social networking strategy.

To claim the guide, a visitor to the LocalHood Marketing fan page just needs to click the "like" button on the page while they're logged in to their Facebook account. The guide is an informational resource that takes a high level view of the social networking space and it lacks any type of product sales message.

Facebook's Chief Operating Officer, Sheryl Sandberg has been quoted as saying "I think every small business should be using Facebook. We're not going to stop until all of them are using it to grow their business." Sandberg is the former vice president of global online sales and operations at Google and is credited with playing a key role in helping Google build its market dominant search-advertising business.

LocalHood Marketing manager, Wilf Barnes agrees with Sandberg's comments that every small business should be using Facebook. "Social networking is an integral component of establishing a web presence for any business or organization and Facebook is the 800 pound gorilla in the social networking room. A fan page can work especially well for local, small businesses..." says Barnes if done right.

A page needs engagement and interaction to really come alive and most pages could benefit from the addition of a few simple apps that will instantly make a page more attractive and useful to visitors. According to Facebook.com, "...an app on Facebook gives you the opportunity to deeply integrate into the core Facebook experience. Your app can integrate with many aspects of Facebook.com, including the News Feed and Notifications."

"A lot of thriving local businesses have a fan page that only has a few likes and there is nothing really going on to make the page or the business attractive to their potential customers." Barnes' opinion is that a tiny, static number of likes on a business fan page can actually be counter productive to the business's positioning efforts. "It's all about social proof and market perception. A business's page reflects on the business whether the reflection is accurate or not" says Barnes.

Concerning the rapid number of likes that the LocalHood Marketing page has attracted, Barnes says "hey were glad that people seem to like the free download that we are giving away. We're actually hoping to meet new followers who'll post comments on our wall." A visitor to facebook.com/localwebpresence just needs to select the "Freemium" tab found on the page's left side menu for the offer to load.

Skin Care for Athletes Invited 200 Clients and 20,000 Showed Up

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) August 18, 2011

Skin Care for Athletes, the only organic and natural skin care line designed specifically for athletes has run varying promotions for their clients. They did not, however, expect to have this kind of response when they decided to conduct a promotion using the Wildfire App on Facebook.

A Simple Offer Explodes

In an effort to give back to their loyal customers and to bring on some new clients over the course of a one month promotion, Skin Care for Athletes offered a small 2oz travel size bottle of their popular Tri-Body Wash. All that needed to be done was to like them on Facebook and sign up for their newsletter to receive the free bottle of wash. We started with 225 friends on Friday afternoon and by Friday night we had 227. stated Taylor Sparks, Principal Goddess/Founder of Skin Care for Athletes. When she checked Facebook Saturday afternoon she had over 900 friends and almost as many orders. By 6:30pm we had over 1,900 likes and over 1,500 orders. She continues, I stopped the promotion at that point on Facebook but our clients had already sent out the links to their friends and by Sunday morning we had over 8,000 likes and more than 20,000 customers ordering more than 39,000 bottles of the Tri-Body Wash! We were blown away! In two days we had more than 55,000 visits to our site.

Too Much of a Good Thing...Never

Skin Care for Athletes is not a large company and as much as they welcomed their new clients, too many too fast has turned their suppliers and production on its ear. Ms. Sparks compared it to inviting 10 of your friends over for a barbeque and those friends invited 20 of their best friends to your house to eat and you only shopped for 10. We were overwhelmed and surprised when we received all of this support, love and interest in our product. We're shipping as fast as we can and are sending all of our clients a new $ 7 off coupon to make up for any delays. said Taylor. Skin Care for Athletes continues to educate and hydrate the skin of athletes and fitness enthusiasts through social media and their website.

Online parcel delivery firm says small businesses must capitalise on mobile sales boom

(PRWEB UK) 19 August 2011

Britains leading online parcel delivery specialist has called on small businesses to take advantage of the boom in sales through smartphones.

Recent research has shown that more and more consumers are prepared to buy products through their mobile phones and are enjoying the freedom that mobile shopping offers. Bolton-based Parcel2Go helps businesses of all sizes organise shipping to countries across the world and suggests that small firms should take a proactive approach when it comes to building an online presence.

People are now using their mobile phones to do so much more, from surfing the internet to using social networking sites. Figures released last week by online research specialist comScore revealed that 13.5 million mobile users across France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK accessed mobile retail sites in the three months ending May 2011. In Britain, the number of smartphone users accessing mobile sites has increased by 163 per cent over the past 12 months.

Online retail site eBay expects global mobile sales to hit $ 4bn by the end of 2011, double the value of goods sold in 2010. The UK market has been one of the fastest adopters of the technology and an increasing number of businesses now find they have to meet eBay parcel delivery requests following purchases made via mobile phones.

Richard Mercer, Director of Marketing at Parcel2Go, said: "There is little doubt that the retail world is changing rapidly. Smartphones have become commonplace and consumers in the UK have adopted m-commerce technology quicker than many people would have anticipated.

"Parcel2Go launched its own mobile site at http://m.parcel2go.com/ last month. We also partner with a huge variety of UK companies involved in selling their goods online, whether thats through their own website or through third-party sites such as Amazon and eBay. All firms need to recognise the important role that mobile e-commerce is already playing, and that courier services available through Parcel2Go can play a key part in helping to organise a smooth delivery after a sale has been made."

About Parcel2Go:

Parcel2Go Ltd has been offering its customers a comprehensive range of parcel delivery and worldwide shipping services for the past 21 years. Based in Bolton, the company operates a cost effective collection and delivery service available throughout the UK, Europe and USA mainland.

Prepare for Life After College

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) February 13, 2004

You’ve just picked up your college diploma, what are you going to do next? No, go to Disney World is not the correct answer, even though it is the fun answer. You get to do something much more fun - handle life all by yourself for the very first time. Before you actually graduate from college this spring, make a post-graduation plan to save yourself from some of the shock that can occur after leaving the cocoon of school. “You are now responsible for feeding, clothing, and transporting yourself – not to mention keeping a roof over your head, plus saving for the day you’ll retire and insuring yourself, and paying taxes,” says Kristen Gustafson, author of "Graduate!: Everything You Need to Succeed After College" (Capital Books, $ 14.95).

Besides telling recent graduates how to find a job, buy a car, rent an apartment, get along with a roommate, and fill a refrigerator, in "Graduate!," Kristen Gustafson offers these five bits of advice that most parents and teachers don’t think to give.

1) Keep a journal. “This is one of the most amazing times in your life and the best way to remember it is to keep a journal. And then there may be days when you just need to let off steam and the only things that will listen are the pages of your journal.”

2) There will be bad days. “You will have some downright terrible days, but for every horrible day, there will be an equally spectacular day. Realize that the situation is not hopeless.”

3) Set goals for yourself. “Whether you make a formal list, write yourself a check based on future earnings, or whatever, set a goal for yourself. Putting your aspirations into writing gives them a form and gives you a reason to get out of bed every day.”

4) You don’t have to have it all figured out. “For years you’ve had to make decisions based on what you thought would be best for you down the road. The pervasive mode of operation in our society is to have everything figured out. But, really, you don’t have to know what you want to do with the rest of your life. This is the time to explore, to figure out what makes you happy, and to go for it. Ride by the seat of your pants and enjoy the ride.”

5) Who you work for is as important as what you do. “You may take a job with someone who is little known or unknown in the industry and it could be the best career move you ever made, if they are a generous and supportive mentor. Your reputation can precede you and the decisions you make now can have a profound effect on your future career. If you work for someone with a bad reputation, yours could suffer as well.”

Making sure you have the basic knowledge that is necessary to become a capable and intelligent-sounding college graduate also is important to have before leaving school. Homer Moyer, an international corporate lawyer, developed "The R.A.T. (Real World Aptitude Test)" (Capital Books, $ 19.95) to help his own children develop this basic knowledge before they left school.

“The R.A.T. is a test to be taken and passed before leaving home to enter the real world – the real world of work, further education, adventure, or some combination of the three,” explains Moyer. “It is designed to test skills and knowledge you might not learn in school but that could be quite useful in life.”

Some of the questions (and answers) covered in The. R.A.T. are:

1) Credit Card Debt. If you have a $ 2,000 balance on your credit card and make a minimum payment of $ 40 a month every month, how long – assuming you make no new purchases – will it take you to pay off your credit card balance?

a. ______ Just under a year

b. ______ Just over four years

c. ______ Nearly eight years

2) Recipes. Which of the following statements about following and cooking from recipes is true?

a. ______ The terms “baking” and “roasting” involve the same type of cooking.

b. ______ In following a recipe, ingredients should be prepared or mixed in exactly the same

sequence that they are listed.

c. ______ In baking, particularly breads, increasing the amount of baking powder, salt, or sugar can sometimes enhance the flavor without significantly affecting the recipe.

d. ______ In stir-frying Asian food in a wok, sunflower oil, vegetable oil, and peanut oil are equally good.

e. ______ When a recipe calls for “sifted flour,” the flour should be measured before it is sifted, not after.

3) Security Deposits. When renting an apartment, you may be required to pay a “security deposit.” A security deposit is:

a. _____ Payment for the security guards who ensure that only residents and guests are admitted

b. _____ The fee that landlords routinely charge for installing new locks for new tenants

c. _____ A sum the landlord holds in case renters fail to pay their last monthly rent

d. _____ A sum the landlord holds to pay for any damage renters have done during the term of their

lease.

So, don’t panic if you are leaving college with just a diploma and not a life plan, first job, and new car. With a little forethought and a lot of courage and curiousity, the world is out there waiting to be discovered by you. In all of your free time now that you won’t have anymore homework, here are more resources you might enjoy reading: "Use Your Fingers, Use Your Toes: Quick and Easy Step-by-Step Solutions to Your Everyday Math Problems" by Beth Norcross (Capital Books, $ 14.95), “'Just Sign Here, Honey:' Women’s 10 Biggest Legal Mistakes & How to Avoid Them" by Marilyn Barrett (Capital Books, $ 14.95), "Safe Living in a Dangerous World: An Expert Answers Your Every Question from Homeland Security to Home Safety" by Nancy Harvey Steorts (Capital Books, $ 14.95), "Nonstop Networking: How to Improve Your Life, Luck & Career" by Andrea Nierenberg (Capital Books, $ 19.95).

Olympia Steel Buildings Seeks Dealers & Sales Representatives In Nebraska and Iowa

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) October 07, 2011

Universal Steel Buildings is currently seeking dealers and sales representatives in Nebraska and Iowa as the company continues to extend their Olympia pre-engineered steel buildings brand into the Midwest. Olympia Steel Buildings continues its steady growth as a leader in pre-engineered steel buildings with fourteen locations in the United States and Canada, including their recently opened office in Olathe, Kansas.

Were looking for dealers and sales reps in Nebraska and Iowa to enable us to reach out to customers all over the Midwest, but especially in those states where we feel there is a growing need and demand for pre-engineered steel building products, states Company vice-president, Lucas Hocker. We want Olympia Steel Buildings to be their premier choice when looking to build anything from a barn to a garage to a machine shed, commodities storage or for any new construction project.

The search for new dealers and sales representatives ties in with the companys committment to customer service and a personalized approach. Its a tremendous opportunity for builders, contractors and building erectors to get in on the ground floor with Olympia and really build their business, states Hocker. We like to invite interested individuals to come out to the plant and once they see what we are doing, the quality and the service we provide, theyre sold right then and there.

Olympia Steel Buildings are manufactured in a completely automated state-of-the-art facility, located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. Staffed by highly experienced engineers and designers, the Ambridge plant is one of the most sophisticated in the metal building industry. The facility employs CNC technology to create one of the markets highest quality metal buildings system and uses advanced CAD-CAM software created exclusively for the metal building industry to design and engineer their buildings. The Ambridge plant manufactures the entire Olympia Steel Buildings metal buildings system, including frames, sheeting, secondary framing and components without the need to outsource, unlike some companies that just make the frames and buy the rest of the components, or companies that just make components and do not supply the frames.

The integration of the entire manufacturing process assures the quality of the final product, assures Hocker. And that is what we want the customer to know.

ICANN and Qatar Celebrate Launch of Arabic Top-Level Domain

Doha, Qatar (Vocus/PRWEB) March 02, 2011

Dignitaries in the Arabian Gulf state of Qatar today joined leaders of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in celebrating the launch of the lnternets latest Arabic script top-level domain (TLD) name.

Approval of Qatars internationalized domain name is an acknowledgment of the countrys vision and leadership, said Rod Beckstrom, ICANNs President and Chief Executive Officer. In pursuing the IDN on behalf of its people, Qatar has recognized that the Internet is the way of the future.

Beckstrom made the comments during a ceremony commemorating the latest addition to the group of countries and territories with country code top-level domain (ccTLD) names in non-Latin characters, as part of ICANNs Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) Fast-Track program.

The launch of Qatars Arabic top-level domain names is a major milestone as we work to build a more digitally inclusive society, said Dr. Hessa Al Jaber, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology, which will manage Qatars Internet domain names through the Qatar Domains Registry. As more organizations and individuals begin adopting Arabic domain names, the Internet will literally be opened up to broad new audiences. The Arab world represents a region with enormous potential for growth both in terms of usage and the creation of new digital content, especially Arabic content,

To date, 17 countries and territories have had country code top-level domains in non-Latin scripts approved for entry into the Internets root. Thirty-four nations and territories so far have applied for IDN ccTLDs, representing 22 languages.

Non-Latin top-level domains are gradually being introduced into the Internets root zone. Currently, they are only allowed as country code top level domains (ccTLDs). Eventually, the use of Internationalized Domain Names will be expanded to include generic top-level domains, such as .com, .net and .biz.

To read more about the IDN ccTLD Fast Track process go here: http://www.icann.org/en/topics/idn/fast-track/faq-en.htm

About ICANN: ICANNs mission is to ensure a stable, secure and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet you have to type an address into your computer - a name or a number. That address has to be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN coordinates these unique identifiers across the world. Without that coordination we wouldn't have one global Internet. ICANN was formed in 1998. It is a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. It promotes competition and develops policy on the Internets unique identifiers. ICANN doesnt control content on the Internet. It cannot stop spam and it doesnt deal with access to the Internet. But through its coordination role of the Internets naming system, it does have an important impact on the expansion and evolution of the Internet.
